For a country that produces more than ten lakhs graduates every year, the fact that most of them do not get jobs is quite worrisome. But even more daunting is the fact that they do not find jobs because they lack basic employability skills. There are various reports made and many survey conducted which, time and again, reveals the poor skill sets of engineers. The latest national employability report shows that more than eighty percent of engineers in India are unemployable, a trend that has not shown any improvement in the past five years.

Given the strained economic condition, companies do not want to spend much on training and would prefer candidates who have some skill sets so that they can be made billable soon. Thus, if one seeks to advance his/her career in structural engineering; the most rewarding , name and fame-earning field of civil engineering; it is implicitly understood that s/he does possess basic understanding and conceptual clarity of soft computing applications used in design and analysis of structures such as Staad.Pro, Etabs, Matlab etc. Exposure to execution of different projects through various site visits is another asset for a candidate to be in the front of the queue.
